danger close (and incorrect) fire mission Generation Kill
Переглядів 3,7 млн13 років тому
in episode/part 3 of generation kill, the incompetent / "super blurr" Company commander of B company tried to call in fire mission based on wrong information that there was 100 killer RPG (enemies). Despite after being clarified by one of his Platoon Commanders that is isnt so, funny / interesting part is that after being told target point is just 200 metres away from them and anything 600m or ...

Steel Rain has to be the best radio Callsign for an Artillery
Encino man… the biggest idiot to ever hold a position of leadership in Iraq. 😂😂
Not only is it danger close, that’s well within reds of arty.
What's the little handbook that Sgt Lovell pulls out?
Honestly, I ran into guys like the Corpsman all throughout the military. It's not that they're wrong, but that they're incapable of controlling their emotions or pride enough to simply explain themselves to an officer or senior enlisted in a way that wasn't going to come off as insubordinate or so insulting that the officer then just does the thing simply so it doesn't look like he got punked out by a lower enlisted. Is it ridiculous that people need to be coddled? Yes. But it's a valuable life skill, because I now see the same people stuck at low levels in the civilian work force. So unless you're going to go into business for yourself and are really good at what you do, don't be like that.
I love how doc can get away with anything because they know he's right and they need him
How tf officers get medals for this?!!!
Wait they can call a fire mission via artilliry im confuse i thought they were executing maneuver warfare did i miss something or do they have a paladin nearby? Can someone enlighten me on this, btw love fire mission calls one of the best things on the arsenal of any us arm service especially done right.
Danger close Papa Quebec
"You dumb motherfucker...sir" Lmfao
So you are telling me that an Officer doesn’t know what a danger close is ? That’s preposterous.
“What one should really fear is not a competent enemy, but an incompetent ally.” -Napoleon Bonaparte
Those coordinates are in Saudi Arabia btw
I refuse to believe he didn't know what danger close meant. Maybe not realize that it's too close but to not know what that term means is wild.
Just realized he said "cunt hair over 200 meters" 😅😂
Entirely off tangent but man the Marines during OP Iraqi Freedom had the drippiest drip 😅 Them M16A4s are GORGEOUS
“ it doesn’t matter if you’re right or wrong you must follow orders”
Amazing that George Bush and the Republican Party gets a pass for sending thousands of Americans to die for nothing
I Love The Incredible Lesson Here Classic Inept Officer Who Deserve’s nothing but Removal But You Know what else? He Fucked up before He could even Fuck up Amazing Examples Wonderful Effort Some Meh Directing Beautiful Public Work The Comfort Of Man Know’s No Bounds
I dont understand how this situation is possible.
I stand corrected... .. .
They explain to him what it means the danger of it and he’s still gonna call it? 😂
Officers are trained this. Silly
I have always had a very difficult time understanding this part of the show. I found it very hard to believe that any officer would not understand danger close for every common weapon category/platform. Certainly not those officers in combat arms roles. I’ve seen some guys shut down and stressful environments much like this officer did, But it wasn’t because they didn’t understand the concept or the specific details.
Aw Griego held his hand while he called it in
As if an infantry captain wouldn't know what danger close is.
He's not an infantry captain. He's a desk guy that they put in charge of this platoon because they were short.
I'm a swiss officer and we all got training in Officers School about calling in artillery strikes. We did it in a simulator while driving in recon vehicles and once one guy called in a danger close mission (he was maybe 550 meters from target and danger close at that range was roughly 600m radius) and the simulator operator dropped a shell right on his vehicle lmao. This though us all about the "danger" part in danger close
I remember when we invaded Afghanistan, hmm sorry I was in Afghanistan
Calls in DC within 600m before adjusting and gives a 6 figure grid and line OT in degrees! What a knob head
I’m shocked that he didn’t know that. I do and I don’t even serve or am American
Can someone explain in fortnite terms pls
A hundred killer RPG team.
That was slick.
Idk enough about military structure but shouldn’t the Air Force combat controller call them in ? I understand it’s the marine so maybe they didn’t have that option because apparently when they went to Iraq they’re pretty much naked when it came to support as far as I have read but who knows I’m just some asshole.
Who wouldn't get a tad insubordinate when your commanding officer is a bigger threat than the actual enemy combatants.
Average Helldivers 2 player with 380mm
Military is ran in the same manner as any other corporation. Sleazebags at the top, dumbasses at the bottom, and a few normal people in the middle - just trying to get through the bullshit while keeping their sanity and humanity.
If the funniest and most scarily accurate depiction of a CO I’ve ever seen.
03:05 hey...thats Project Reality Fallujah West
Puss
As dumb as this guy is meant to be, I can't imagine that there would be any infantry officer in the marine corps who wouldn't know what danger close meant, even if he didn't what exactly that involved.
He wasn't an infantry officer. He was intel or something.
How the fuck does someone manage to get put in charge of a 100 odd soldiers in a professional military force but needs someone to explain something basic from the Manual!?! Shit, I’m an ordinary civilian and I know what danger close is just from watching movies 😂
All for that medal...
Stop flooding the comm, Encino Man.
Continuing off of my other comment what the fuck is the point of “sir two hits, suspected Ba’ath party headquarters” like he didn’t know that when he called it in? Another weird line in a weak scene. I guess it’s for the benefit of the audience. Also there is zero ambiance in this scene. No distant gunfire. Or planes or whatever you hear in a war zone only the prayer broadcast. I know this series gets a lot of praise but a lot of scenes are executed poorly and you can tell they were filmed on a back lot and not in a foreign country
This is one of the weakest scenes of the show. You don’t really know where anyone is in relation to anyone else. The “fire mission” is 2 artillery rounds into a “city” There is no weight to anything. The officer’s line about concern about casualties is so poorly acted and just comes off as weird.
@sengwf in the description it's not "100 killer RPG" its a hunter-killer RPG team - meaning an RPG Team that is specialized in locating and destroying the enemy.
And this was Heel Spur Trump's overrated general.
Would a Navy corpsman have some unofficial leeway to call out incompetent USMC officers because they have a critical role in keeping marines alive?
In a sense yes, but because of the fact that corpsmen are seen in a higher regard
